Nature & Wildlife 101Take a walk on the wild side

Nature & Wildlife 101

Unleash your inner Crocodile Dundee and embark on natural adventures, discovering all creatures great and small. Get to know your freshies from your salties (these are crocodiles, by the way) and your wallabies from your wombats amid the epic wilderness of the Northern Territory. We’re talking crocs, turtles, wallabies ’roos, frogs, emus and more. The region reveals a dizzying diversity of wildlife: more than 400 species of birds, 150 mammals, 300 reptiles, 50 frogs, 60 types of freshwater fish and several hundred varieties of marine fish, with new species continuing to be discovered.

Became a bona fide expert in endangered critters in the floodplains and forests of the Top End, home to waterbirds, fish, crocodiles, and many other species. In the Red Centre, set off on a sunset camel ride, swot up on Aboriginal bush tucker and bush medicine at the Alice Springs Desert Park, admire noisy flocks of budgerigars and parrots, and keep your eyes peeled for the rare Gouldian finch. Marvel at grumpy crocs in the rivers and billabongs in the Top End or at the wildlife parks around Darwin; you’ll also learn the truth behind those infamous drop bears…

Life lessons in the NT

The Northern Territory is full of great experiences that will teach you so much about life. Learn how to have fun. Study what makes you tick. Enjoy failing and trying again. Test yourself to the limit. And pass life with flying colours!
