WOW 🥰🥰 Run Larapinta 4 day stage race through the jaw dropping spectacular and brutal terrain on the outskirts of Alice Springs. What an unforgettable experience 🙌🏻 Running/hiking through this landscape with 180 awesome people from all over Australia. I did the ‘short course’ which totals 85km over 3 days and one evening. (12km/20km/22km/31km)The terrain was really REALLY tough but I Ioved (almost) every minute and used my usual excuse of taking one million photos to have many breaks. Cherished spending time with friends and making new friends. They say it’s like ‘school camp for adults’ and they were so right! So many laughs. I felt stronger as the days went on and I actually feel far less exhausted than when I arrived. The human body is an amazing thing! Hiking season is almost here in @visitcentralaus! 🥾One of @Australia's most iconic walks, the #LarapintaTrail, starts in #AliceSprings and spans 223 kilometres across the West MacDonnell Ranges | Tjoritja. The hike is divided into 12 sections that each take one or two days to complete, so there's no need to do the whole thing in one go if you're not up to it. Described by @AustralianGeographic as "one of the world's best long-distance arid-zone walks", this spectacular desert trek traverses the ridgelines of the mountain ranges from east to west. Small group guided tours typically run from April to September with a number of operators, including @treklarapinta, @worldexpeditions and @intrepidtravel. Ormiston Gorge West MacDonnell Ranges Northern Territory This will forever be one of my favourite spots in the NT. Have you been? It’s hard to describe… it’s just magical. This is pre dawn from down in the gorge itself. The perfect start to the day… quiet and peaceful (until the budgies start up!). I have a lot of shots from Ormiston, as I spent 3 days shooting here after hiking the Larapinta Trail. It’s a busy area with lots of day trippers from Alice Springs and car campers, but the magical times around sunrise and sunset are quiet and perfect for shooting. A beach in Central Australia? Almost! 🏖 Surrounded by sandy banks, the permanent waterhole at #OrmistonGorge will have you feeling like you’re on the coast. It’s only a short walk from the car park to the swimming hole so you start cooling down immediately, but if you wish to really earn your swim or just check out the area, the Ormiston Pound walk takes you on an Insta-worthy 8.5 kilometre loop track. The West MacDonnell National Park (Tjoritja) stretches for 161 kilometres west of #AliceSprings and offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, swimming and camping adventures.
