In tenda

Esistono luoghi ove campeggiare sia a Karlu Karlu / Devils Marbles sia alla Davenport Conservation Reserve; per scoprire bellissimi esemplari di flora e fauna passate qualche giorno in campeggio al Longreach Waterhole, a Renner Springs e alla Connells Lagoon Nature Reserve.

Camminate

Numerosi i sentieri ben segnalati che vi consentiranno di affrontare belle camminate e, a fine giornata, piantare la tenda ed addormentarvi sotto le stelle. Attraversate le alture delle Honeymoon Ranges e arrivate al Lake Mary Ann, a soli 5 km da Tennant Creek; luogo perfetto per un bel picnic ed una nuotata.

Miti del luogo

Le alture dei Davenport Ranges rivestono particolare importanza per la popolazione aborigena locale, come dimostrano alcuni artefatti prodotti dalle popolazioni locale dei Warumungu, Alyawarre e Kaytetye. Effettuate il percorso a piedi di 45 minuti al Jim Rennie Memorial Park nella località di Elliott per saperne di più sulla flora e la fauna locali, dal punto di vista aborigeno.

In fuoristrada

Le località più suggestive si raggiungono praticamente solo in fuoristrada; tra esse il Frew River Track, una pista alternativa per raggiungere l’Old Police Station Waterhole nel Davenport Ranges National Park. Chi ha più tempo, può accamparsi presso il grande allevamento di bestiame di Banka Banka.

Local dreaming

The Davenport Ranges have important associations for Aboriginal people. Artefacts relating to the Warumungu, Alyawarre and Kaytetye people remain and ‘Dreamtime’ stories are told among these ancient people, who retain strong a connection with the land. Take the 45-minute walk through the Jim Rennie Memorial Park at Elliott, and get an introduction to local flora and its traditional uses by Aboriginal people.

4WD

Many of the best spots in Tennant Creek can only be reached by 4WD, and drivers will discover plenty of fascinating nooks and crannies along the way. Explore the Frew River Track, an exciting alternative route to The Old Police Station Waterhole in The Davenport Range National Park. Visitors with a little more time on their hands can get a real taste of the outback by setting up camp at a local outback cattle station like the vast Banka Banka Station.
