Never smile at a crocodile... they might just smile back 😜 Meet Nike, he lives at Bawaka Homeland in #EastArnhemLand. Nike has a great story - he was rescued after being caught in ghost nets at only a few weeks of age and kept in the kitchen sink before being released back into the wild. He has called Bawaka home ever since and is seen as part of the family by the local community. @iamsavi visited this little known region with @Lirrwi Tourism, an aboriginal-owned company, who offer various touring into the remote Yolngu homelands. Fun fact: ‘Nike’ was named after @nike by Olympic gold medallist @cathyfreemanofficial during a visit to Bawaka. Up until then he was called ‘Baru’, which is the Yolŋu word for crocodile. Remember to be #crocwise: there are many areas in the NT where you can enjoy the water and go for a swim, but be sure to take note of signage before hopping in. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, Aaron! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd

If you're planning a trip on #TheGhan with @journeybeyondrail, you're going to love the dinner experience under the stars and the sprawling gum trees at a truly historic location: the old #AliceSprings Telegraph Station, which appropriately for passengers on the modern train, was used to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide. Sit back and relax while chatting to new-found friends, wander over for a camel ride or inspect the old telegraph station and its fascinating museum pieces. As the sun goes down, you'll be treated to a delicious three-course meal, along with the lively sounds of a country singer and a star talk by a local astronomer. There’s no better time to visit the tropical Top End than during @DarwinFestival each August, where a fabulous festival wonderland awaits you ✨ Balmy nights under twinkling lights provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dry season – known elsewhere in @Australia simply as ‘winter’. This 18-day event combines warm outdoor festivities with a program rich with local, national and international talent. Relax in the festoon-lit surrounds of Festival Park with a tasty dinner or dance the night away to the hottest contemporary bands in the Festival’s iconic open-air big top, The Lighthouse. Hurry, there’s only a few days left! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @lmosscas! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd

You're looking at the breathtaking views from the Rim Walk in #KingsCanyon, tucked away in Watarrka National Park 🙌 This 6 kilometre walk is a hiker's heaven with soaring sandstone cliffs, lush rock holes and striking domes (pictured) which somewhat resemble an ancient city. This 3-4 hour walk deserves a comfortable place to rest your head - camp under a billion star sky at @KingsCreekStation or step up the luxe and overnight in a spa room at @KingsCanyon Resort, soaking up outback views from the tub. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @melbourneiloveyou! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

The outback meets the tropics in #Katherine, a big country town three hours drive south of #Darwin on the mighty Katherine River. The jewel of this area is Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge, an ancient 13 gorge system that winds it way through the sandstone country. The walks around the gorge are one of the best ways to explore the region, ranging from easy 1-5 kilometre trails to serious full day and overnight hikes. They take you to stunning lookouts, secluded swimming holes, through palm filled valleys and over rocky escarpments. As @mooski_adventures discovered, the 8.4 kilometre return Windolf walk is well worth your while, offering sweeping views of the first gorge from Pat's Lookout, along with seasonal swimming at Southern Rockhole down below. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, Amy and Sarah! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #NitmilukNT #VisitKatherine

Take to the air and witness the magic of #Kakadu National Park 🚁 The complexity of this diverse landscape becomes an epic eruption of colour and life as you fly over world-famous wetlands, mighty floodplains, and on to the ancient sandstone plateaus of Arnhem Land. Helicopter and fixed-wing flights operate in both wet and dry seasons, departing from #Darwin and within Kakadu (Cooinda and Jabiru). @KingsCreekStation's secluded Dreamtime Escarpment accommodation offers the ultimate #glamping experience 🙌 The perfect base for exploring the epic #KingsCanyon, these “tents” (if you can call them that) are kitted out with air-conditioning, ensuites and a private deck to enjoy a glass of red while you watch the sunset. Lounge in the communal pool area, sit back on the viewing platform with a book or roast marshmellows around the campfire at night. A self-cook bush inspired BBQ dinner and breakfast hamper are part of the package along with drinks to complement your meals. If you're keen to go exploring, the station also offers quad bike tours, scenic flights and cultural experiences. Kings Canyon and Watarrka National Park can be found roughly halfway between Alice Springs and Uluru. Photo: @KingsCreekStation. #NTaustralia #SeeAustralia

Soaking in the sandy spring-fed thermal pools of Elsey National Park is the stuff of fantasies, NT-style! Though nearby Mataranka Thermal Pool gets more hype, the lesser-known Bitter Springs has it all: tropical woodlands, a jungle-like stream and crystal clear water 💦🤩 Bring along a tube or noodle and float with the current from one end to the other - there's ladders for easy access! Just an hour south of #Katherine and moments from the small township of #Mataranka, this little piece of paradise is only a five minute walk from the car park. It's easy to see why we keep falling more and more in love with #Litchfield National park every day! 💚 Wangi Falls is one of the most iconic waterfalls in the Top End. Less than a two hour drive from #Darwin, it's the ultimate place to cool down and get off the grid for a bit. For those of you who want to delve deeper into the lush tropical bush land, there are walking trails readily available 🍃 You can even finish off the day with a bite to eat at the conveniently located Wangi Falls Café, which is open all year round. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @iamsavi!  #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd
