The hills are alive with... golden light 💛 Watarrka National Park, located roughly halfway between #AliceSprings and Uluru, is home to the George Gill Range and protects one of @Australia’s most stunning natural environments. The ranges rise out of the desert like the walls of a once-strong fortress! Time has shaped its sandstone sides, having battled the elements for more than 300 million years 🙌 The region's shining star is #KingsCanyon, a deep chasm with sheer sandstone cliffs. You can hike around its rim, or walk along the canyon floor, but the best way to get a broader view of the wider area is with a scenic helicopter tour. @Professional_Helicopters offer a few different options including the popular sunset flight! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @shaun_jeffers.  #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

When the light is just right! 💜 Massive geological forces created the towering red walls of Ormiston Gorge and Pound, located within the West MacDonnell National Park, 135 kilometres west of #AliceSprings. The best way to describe the ‘Pound’ is as a huge amphitheatre surrounded by hills and ridges 🙌 The 7 kilometre long Pound walk takes you on a full circuit from the visitor centre across the rocky slopes, onto the flat floor of the pound and returns along the gorge via the main waterhole. Whether you're looking for just a day walk or are hiking the more challenging Larapinta Trail, we guarantee this spectacular trail will take your breath away! We've hit the road... next stop: an epic Red Centre adventure 🙌 🚗 Central @Australia was made for road-trips with a number of exciting drive routes linking #AliceSprings, #Uluru, #KingsCanyon and the West MacDonnell Ranges. Whether you've hired a car or brought your own, happy to stay on sealed roads or keen to try a dirt track; there's something for everyone in the Aussie outback. The precarious piles of huge granite boulders, wide open skies and golden sunlight make the #DevilsMarbles Conservation Reserve (#KarluKarlu) a must do on your NT travel itinerary. The unique rock formations found here were created by an upsurge of molten rock that cooled and became solid beneath a layer of sandstone. Over millions of years the hardened granite cracked and water broke down the sandstone and then the granite... as a result, rounded boulders were formed 🙌 There's a reason why they describe it as 'the balancing act that took 1.5 million years to perfect'! This 1,802 hectare reserve extends along both sides of the Stuart Highway and is roughly 400 kilometres north of #AliceSprings. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @patterson_nate! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

Need some inspiration to get out of bed earlier? This should do the trick 🌅 It's not hard to see why the Rim Walk at #KingsCanyon is one of the most famous trails in the Red Centre! The six kilometre circuit walk traces the rim of the canyon for much of the hike before descending into the lush 'Garden of Eden' and back up to the top again. Located in Watarrka National Park, roughly halfway between #Uluru and #AliceSprings, Kings Canyon is one of the many must-do stops along the iconic Red Centre Way drive route. Our tip: Set your alarm and start the walk in the dark so you can watch the sun come up from the top of the canyon! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @aj_zammit. #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

It's not hard to see why this outback swimming hole is often named as one of the prettiest stops along the West MacDonnell Ranges! High red cliffs, a large waterhole and a sandy creek fringed by gums are just a handful of the highlights at Ellery Creek Big Hole. Located only 90 kilometres west of #AliceSprings, Ellery sits within the West MacDonnell National Park / Tjoritja, an adventure-filled area right on the doorstep of Australia's unofficial outback capital. The park stretches for 161 kilometres and is an incredible example of an ancient landscape sculptured over time by the climatic elements - so, expect to be wowed by the scenery! While it's possible to take in much of the region on a day-trip, there are plenty of campgrounds if you're keen to spend longer here, along with motel-style accommodation at @glenhelenlodge 👍 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @traveloutbackaustralia!  #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

Penny and Derek look pretty pleased with their #Easter haul! 🐣 No trip to the NT is complete without a kangaroo experience, and you won’t find any better than the globally renowned Kangaroo Sanctuary in #AliceSprings. Made famous by the documentary series Kangaroo Dundee, and no. 1 on @tripadvisor's list of things to do in the unofficial outback capital, the Sanctuary is truly an inspiration. Join Brolga, the sanctuary's owner, as he looks after his huge mob of rescued kangaroos, while educating and encouraging visitors about caring for injured wildlife. The Sanctuary can only be visited on a pre-booked tour that runs from Tuesday to Friday. Get in quick - tours fill up fast!  Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @TheKangarooSanctuary.  #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

You'll think you’ve lost your marbles at this unique outback stop! The oddly shaped, gravity-defying rock formations of the #DevilsMarbles (#KarluKarlu) are unlike anything else 🙌 Follow the walkways and find out via the information boards how the granite formations have withstood the forces of wind and rain, unlike the surrounding sandstone. This 1,802 hectare reserve extends along both sides of the Stuart Highway and is roughly 400 kilometres north of #AliceSprings. Stay overnight at the nearby campground to see the large boulders change colour in the early morning light and setting sun. In desperate need of a #weekend adventure? Why not wander through the incredible Standley Chasm! This Red Centre jewel is a must do, offering breathtaking scenes with it’s rich red rock and hosting walking tracks for all levels. The chasm is only 30 minutes' drive west of #AliceSprings and is one of the many spectacular nature stops in the West MacDonnell Ranges - a region perfect for exploring over a couple of days! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @traveloutbackaustralia. #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT
