Areas of white sand, huge river eucalyptus trees, and white-barked ghost gums lead to a permanent waterhole in the shelter of rugged cliffs, which are particularly impressive as the sun starts to go down. Nearby walking trails will take you to quiet spots where rock wallabies appear in the early morning and late afternoon, and Cassia Hill offers excellent views of the Larapinta valley. A 24 kilometre hike from Alice Springs Telegraph Station to Simpsons Gap marks the first section of the famous Larapinta Trail, one of Australia's most famous outback walks. The area is an important spiritual site to the Aranda Aboriginal people, where several dreaming stories cross. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @jarradseng! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT View on Instagram Get access all areas and unparalleled panoramas with a scenic flight over #Uluru and its vast, magnificent surrounds. By air you’ll get a sense of its enormity and see the fissures and crevices worn into its ancient surface 🙌 Choose your flight of fancy from a range of short, day-long, sunrise or sunset tours with @professional_helicopters or @ayersrockhelicopters. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @seeseaimages! #SeeAustralia #SeeUluru #ExploreUluru View on Instagram Camping in #Kakadu is pretty stellar! ✨ The World Heritage-listed national park spans over 20,000 kilometres and no matter where you pitch your tent, you will be star struck by what a sky without light pollution looks like! If #glamping is more your style, check out @kakadutourism's new Dreaming @ HomeBillabong glamping village, located at Cooinda Lodge. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @aurelienrob ! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #SeeKakadu View on Instagram Don’t let the name Bitter Springs fool you, this place is pretty darn sweet! 💦 These crystal clear hot springs are located in Elsey National Park, just two kilometres from #Mataranka and a one-hour drive south of #Katherine. The colours of this spot are almost edible, with decadent turquoise blues from the springs set against the alluring green foliage of surrounding tropical woodlands. Feel like a float? Bring your noodle then walk up from the first entry point to enjoy a short and relaxing natural ride down the stream. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @amyrcooper! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #VisitKatherine View on Instagram The hidden beaches atop the northern point of @Australia’s rich #EastArnhemLand are hailed as some of the NT's, and even the country's, most remote and stunning coastlines. East Woody Beach (Galaru) and East Woody Island (Dhamitjinya), connected via sand banks, boast azure waters, expansive stretches of coastline and some of the best tropical sunsets you'll ever see. Just 3 kilometres away is East Arnhem Land's main centre, #Nhulunbuy, where there are a handful of accommodation options available. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @iamsavi! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd View on Instagram You’ll feel instantly at peace when you enter the beautiful Walpa Gorge 🙌 These towering ochre-coloured domes make up #KataTjuta (#TheOlgas), a large rock formation spread over an area of more than 20 kilometres, roughly 30 kilometres from #Uluru. The 2.6 kilometre walk through Walpa Gorge is one of the shorter and easier trails, but if you're looking for a challenge, we suggest the Valley of the Winds walk which will take you on a circuit of a few of the domes. Towards the end of the day, head to the Kata Tjuta sunset viewing area and soak in the changing colours of the domes and the desert sky. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @haylsa and @kyle_hunter! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT View on Instagram Calling all adrenaline junkies! If you're looking for a sure-fire way to get your blood pumping, powering through Finke Gorge National Park in Can-am ATV's will definitely do the trick 🙌 A tour with @finkeriveradventures is a must do for all thrill-seekers and is a great way to explore the rugged beauty of this lesser-known Red Centre region. Travelling along exclusive tracks where few others have been, you can go all the way to Palm Valley on a full day tour or alternatively, explore the winding Finke River on a half day experience. Transfers are available from #AliceSprings 👍 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @jordhammond! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT #FinkeRiverAdventures View on Instagram If you're looking for a pretty picnic spot with a healthy side of wild swimming, look no further than #BerrySprings 💦 These shady pools are less than an hours' drive from the #Darwin CBD, making it the perfect day-trip. Walking trails await, so you can work up a sweat or take an easy stroll through the tropical rainforest. Afterwards, why not pop in to @crazyacresnt for what has been described as the best mango ice-cream in @Australia 🙌 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @darwin_style! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd View on Instagram Sit back and relax...it's time to take in the afternoon show 😎 The top pick of the short walks from the Nitmiluk (#Katherine) Gorge visitor centre, Baruwei follows the path of a dragonlike Jawoyn Creation Ancestor. There are two options: the 1.8km trail to the lookout for glorious views, or the longer 4.8km loop. Starting with a short, steep climb, the entire loop provides beautiful views over the Katherine River. There are lots of ways to explore this ancient gorge system, located 3.5 hours' from #Darwin, including by kayak, helicopter or boat cruise 👌 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @jonny.melon! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #NitmilukNT View on Instagram Subscribe Sign up to receive the latest news, deals and travel information about the Northern Territory.
