Tennant Creek et la région de Barkly

Map showing the Tennant Creek and Barkly region in the NT

Break your journey along the Stuart Highway at Tennant Creek and the Barkly Tablelands, known for its million-acre cattle stations, gold mining heritage, iconic rock formations and Aboriginal culture. This is genuine Outback Australia.

Just a regular day in the life of our mate @mattwright1 😎 After a wet tropical summer, it's almost time for @outbackfloatplanes' Ultimate Tour to start again just outside of #Darwin. Suitable for everyone, the Ultimate Tour begins with a scenic flight, complete with a spectacular float-plane landing on the waters of Sweets Lagoon where your once-in-a-lifetime adventure unfolds. There's not many places where you can experience float-planes, airboats, crocs and a cruise all in one tour! 🐊 🚁 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, Matt. #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd

As darkness falls and #Uluru is thrown into silhouette, the #FieldofLight illuminates ✨ As far as the eye can see gentle rhythms of colour light up the desert. The exhibition, aptly named Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku or ‘looking at lots of beautiful lights’ in local Pitjantjatjara, sees more than 50,000 solar-powered stems begin to glow as the sun goes down. The installation covers an area of more than seven football fields and invites visitors to wander through the network of pathways and watch this fantasy garden softly change colour at #sunrise and #sunset. Pretty magical, hey @hikeandseek! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, Dan. #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT #ExploreUluru

Just 3.5 hours south of #Darwin, Nitmiluk (#Katherine) Gorge winds along 12 kilometres of sheer rock extending more than 70 metres high. Consisting of 13 separate gorges, it's a maze of waterways sculpted from the sandstone over countless millennia by the Katherine River 🙌 There's a heap of ways to immerse yourself in the history, rugged beauty and culture of this magnificent region including boat cruises, canoeing, walking trails and scenic flights. Hit up @nitmiluktours for some more ideas 👌 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @lifeindarwin!  #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #NitmilukNT #jawoyncountry

Poolside drinks with epic views of the MacDonnell Ranges? Um, yes please! 🍹This oasis in the outback (aka @LassetersAu) is not only a great place to stay while you're in #AliceSprings, it's also an awesome spot to take advantage of the sunshine and enjoy some pool time ☀️ Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @savvy_social!  #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

Many people say that #Kakadu National Park is best visited during the calm and cloudless dry season, but with scenes like this, we're wondering if they're wrong 😍 The wet season months bring surprise, adventure and new life to the region and Motor Car Falls is no exception. This hidden gem comes to life during the tropical summer and is well worth the 7.5km (return) walk through fluorescent green landscape 🌱 Surrounded by lush monsoon forest, the falls are part of the Yurmikmik Walks in the southern part of the park. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @jarradseng!  #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #SeeKakadu #DoKakadu

We’ve seen some pretty amazing sunsets coming through our feed lately, but how about this gem from Mindil Beach in #Darwin? This particular stretch of beach is home to the iconic @mindilmarket, held every Thursday and Sunday evening between April and October. With opening night scheduled for 26 April, it won't be long before we're sampling delicious laksa and sipping fresh juice while watching the sun go down on another magnificent dry season day 👌 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @lifeindarwin!  #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd

Aren't you full of surprises, #Uluru 😍 We love a good sunset as much as the next bloke, but this double rainbow is taking it to the next level! Thank goodness @nate_patterson got his camera out in time 👏 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, Nate!  #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

Oh #Kakadu, you sure do know how to put on a show 😍 @SeeKakadu is the largest national park in @Australia, covering almost 20,000 square kilometres. This timeless landscape has been home to Aboriginal people for more than 65,000 years. Many of the park's local tour companies are run by Aboriginal guides whose ancestors have lived in the regions for thousands of years. Whether it be a boat cruise or guided walk through country, we highly recommend joining a cultural tour while you're in Kakadu. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia,! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #SeeKakadu

Little Bradley is one of the newest residents at @thekangaroosanctuary in #AliceSprings 😍 Sadly Bradley is an orphan after losing his mum, but fortunately for him, Brolga and his team have brought him to live at the sanctuary. The sanctuary's main mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release orphaned baby kangaroos back into the wild. Those who can’t be return to the wild are released into their 188 acre property. Bradley is slowly growing and has apparently had his 'first hops' over the past month or so! You can meet this little fella and a heap of his friends on a sunset tour at the sanctuary 👍 Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @thekangaroosanctuary! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT
