King Ash Bay Fishing Club is situated on 500 acres of land (under lease from the NT Government) right on the banks of the McArthur River in the Gulf of Carpentaria, and on the doorstep to the Sir Edward Pellew Islands.

The Club is in many respects a small self-sufficient township, generating its own power, supplying good quality water from a bore and providing many of the other services you would expect in a small community. Onsite there is powered and unpowered camping, a Club Bar & Bistro, a 9-hole golf course, and privately-owned accommodation options, service station and supermarket, houseboat hire and fishing charters.

Due to their remoteness, they also have an airstrip providing access to visitors with light aircraft and helicopters.

Each dry season, the King Ash Bay community swells with the arrival of members and visitors from all over Australia who come to enjoy the great ‘winter’ weather, the fishing and the lifestyle. Many others drop in for a few days or weeks as part of a more extensive visit to Northern Australia. All are made to feel welcome and many return again and again after an initial taste of the King Ash Bay experience.

They offer a unique experience including annual and monthly fishing competitions, entertainment nights and community activities that are held mainly during the dry season.
