Giwining / Flora River Nature Park protects 25 km of the spring-fed Flora River, which is fringed by dense riverine vegetation, dotted with deep pools, and bordered by floodplain and savanna woodland—a rich habitat for wildlife.

This peaceful park offers opportunities for short walks, camping and relaxing along the river. Visit the beautiful Kathleen Falls and Djarrung Falls, where tufa formations—natural dams created by calcium carbonate in the springwater—span the river, forming a striking landscape.

The river is home to barramundi, bream, catfish and grunters. However, as both freshwater and saltwater crocodiles inhabit the area, swimming, canoeing and boating are not permitted.

Stay at the Lorrngorl Campground, which includes toilets, showers, picnic areas and fire pits. Camping must be booked online before your visit.

To access the park, travel 86 km west of Katherine along the Victoria Highway, then turn onto the 46 km access road, suitable for 2WD vehicles during the dry season (April to October). The park may be inaccessible after heavy rain, so check road conditions before visiting.
