Bawaka Experience is a fully Yolngu-owned and operated business run by the Burarrwanga family.

They specialise in Yolŋu cultural awareness and immersion experiences for tourists and corporate groups.

They also offer a one-day visit to Bawaka Homeland and a tour of the famous Ngalarrkpuy (Lonely Beach), which these days also includes a visit to Bungugunglu, a very large, thousands-of-year-old Yolngu fish trap site.

You can also just come and stay in one of three different types of accommodation. All have access to shared bathroom facilities (no hot water), open style kitchen/dining/lounge area with barbeque, fridges, sink and open beach fireplace.

There are three beachfront cabins with double beds and three beachfront cabins with a double bunk and single bed.

Safari tents are fitted with self-inflatable mattresses and sleeping bags. They comfortably sleep five people.

Or bring your own camping gear.

Self-catering: Existing facilities as above. All other utensils, pots, cutlery, crockery, and other items must be self-supplied. Also, please bring your own drinking water.

One Day Visit

A One-Day Visit to Bawaka Homeland allows you to visit Bawaka and experience breathtaking landscapes, pristine beaches, and crystal-clear waters. While there, you can relax, have a picnic, do a Bayni beach walk through a small tropical rainforest to another beach, fish off the rocks or hang out on the large deck with access to bathroom facilities, an open-style kitchen/dining/lounge area with a barbeque, fridges, sink, and an open beach fireplace.

One-Day Visits do not include an overnight stay. To stay overnight, you need to book camping or accommodation. If you are booking camping or accommodation.

Strictly only 4WD vehicles. There is five kilometres of soft sand driving in the dry season and negotiating tides and creeks in the wet season. It is not suitable for caravans, campers or boat trailers.

Bring your own food and drinking water. No alcohol or dogs are allowed. Crocodiles love dogs.

Cultural experiences need to be booked separately and are not part of a One-Day Visit, except for what might happen as part of daily life at Bawaka Home Land.

Northern Lands Council permits are included in the price.

Beachfront Cabin Double Share

These new beachfront cabins are fitted with one double bed and a fan, providing an intimate retreat for couples. All have access to shared bathroom facilities (no hot water), an open-style kitchen/dining/lounge area with a barbeque, fridges, sink, and an open beach fireplace.

Cabins are nestled on the shores of the ocean; these cabins offer breathtaking views, allowing guests to wake up to the soothing sounds of waves, immersing themselves in the profound connection between the land, sea, and Yolngu heritage at Bawaka, making it a truly memorable escape.

Explore a Bayni beach walk through a small tropical rainforest to another beach, or hang out on the large deck with access to bathroom facilities, an open-style kitchen/dining/lounge area with a BBQ, fridges, sink, and an open beach fireplace.

These new beachfront cabins are fitted with three beds. One top/bottom bunk bed and kingsingle bed, a fan. All have access to shared bathroom facilities (no hot water), an open-style kitchen/dining/lounge area with a barbeque, fridges, sink, and an open beach fireplace.

Cabins are nestled on the shores of the ocean; these cabins offer breathtaking views, allowing guests to wake up to the soothing sounds of waves.

BYO Tent Camping

Camping enthusiasts and nature lovers will find this a captivating opportunity to explore and connect with the untouched beauty of Bawaka on your own terms. Have access to shared bathroom facilities (no hot water).

While there, you can relax, have a picnic, do a Bayni beach walk through a small tropical rainforest to another beach, fish off the rocks or hang out on the large deck with access to bathroom facilities, an open-style kitchen/dining/lounge area with a barbeque, fridges, sink, and an open beach fireplace.

Safari Tent Camping
