Bombing of Darwin Day Commemorative Service
On 19 February 1942 Darwin was bombed by enemy forces.
Each year, we come together as a city and nation to pay tribute those who were there and were part of the war fought over Northern Australia.
The attack left hundreds of servicemen and civilians dead, and countless others injured. The Bombing of Darwin played an important role in Australia’s WWII and military history, the annual event acknowledges this and recognises those who lost their lives and the community that pitched in and rendered aid. Their resilience has shaped the character of Darwin city today.
Join City of Darwin at the Commemorative Service at the Darwin Cenotaph, the Esplanade. This is a free event and open to the public.
