The Museum is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of Australia's unique transport heritage and the essential role it's played in servicing remote areas of Australia and the outback.

This huge complex is one of the most comprehensive land transport museums in the southern hemisphere.

Attractions include The Old Ghan Museum, the Buntine pavilion has the Wall of Fame inductee frames on display with the recipients from 2000 through to 2022 the next 2 years inductees 2023 / 2024 are displayed in the TIA shed, with History Maker displays including the Razorback blockade and Kurt Johanneson honored.

The Kenworth dealer Hall of Fame has a beautiful display of Kenworth rigs from old to brand new. The RSL Military Museum is now set up here onsite with an interesting display of memorabilia. the TIA shed houses many of our older trucks and pride of place we have Bertha a Diamond T, the first road train built by Kurt Johanneson and the AEC.

The museum has vast outside displays as well.

Accessibility

Welcomes and assists people who have challenges with learning, communication, understanding and behaviour. (includes people with autism, intellectual disability, Down syndrome, acquired brain injury (ABI), dyslexia and dementia) Caters for people with sufficient mobility to climb a few steps but who would benefit from fixtures to aid balance. (This includes people using walking frames and mobility aids) Caters for people who use a wheelchair.
