Tropical Hunting Safaris is an Australian-owned outfitter specialising in authentic free-range water buffalo hunting in the remote wilderness of Arnhem Land.
Operating since 1999, Tropical Hunting Safaris offers fully guided safaris on the Mann River Plateau, one of the Northern Territory's most spectacular and untouched hunting regions. Hunters pursue trophy water buffalo, scrub bulls and wild boar across vast floodplains, savannah woodlands and rugged escarpment country.
Hunting is conducted primarily on foot, with specialised hunting buggies used to access remote and difficult-to-reach areas. From these locations, hunters continue on foot in a traditional walk-and-stalk style alongside experienced professional guides, tracking game through diverse habitats including billabongs, river systems and open plains. The region supports large populations of wild buffalo and offers exceptional opportunities to encounter mature bulls in a truly wild and remote environment.
Guests stay in comfortable safari lodge accommodation overlooking the surrounding wilderness. Facilities include Wi-Fi and satellite connectivity, hot and cold running water, flushing toilets, laundry facilities and 24-hour generator power.
Hearty home-style meals are prepared daily, and a special liquor licence allows guests to enjoy a drink while relaxing and sharing stories of the day's hunt.
Safaris are conducted in small groups with a maximum of six guests, ensuring a personalised experience in one of Australia's most remote and breathtaking hunting destinations.

Buffalo Safari
This 7-day safari includes a fully guided 5-day hunt in the remote Aboriginal Reserve of Central Plateau Arnhem Land at Mann River in Australia's Northern Territory.
Hunters experience authentic free-range buffalo hunting in one of Australia's most pristine wilderness regions, renowned for large populations of wild water buffalo, scrub bulls and wild boar.
Each hunter may select one of the following safari options:
Option 1: 1 x Trophy Water Buffalo (Gold Class) and 1 x Management Water Buffalo (Silver Class)
Option 2: 3 x Management Water Buffalo (Silver Class)
Daily hunts take place across vast floodplains, savannah woodlands and rugged escarpment country. Travelling in specialised 4WD vehicles and buggies, guests access remote areas, billabongs and river systems while enjoying spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife.
Once game is located, hunting continues on foot in a traditional walk-and-stalk style with experienced professional guides. Hunters track buffalo through open plains, wetlands and river systems, creating an authentic free-range hunting experience.
Guests may also enjoy the region's natural beauty, including freshwater creeks and secluded rock pools where an invigorating swim can be enjoyed in areas free of saltwater crocodiles.
