Darwin Kite Festival

The Kite Festival is back for its second year, bigger and more colourful than ever!

Due to the festival’s popularity, we are excited to announce that this year’s Kite Festival will run over two exciting days.

The skies at Cullen Bay will be packed with hundreds of colourful and mesmerising kites, some as big as 30m, and include some familiar Territory icons.

It’s not just the skies that will be packed with action, with many fun activities happening on the ground, such as kite decorating classes, face painting and roving entertainment, music and more.

Don’t forget to create or buy your kite ahead and bring it down to fly at the Kite Festival public kite flying zone.

We’re making attending this year’s Festival a breeze! Catch the Kite Express (Bus 14) from this Darwin Interchange to Kite Festival or jump on the Kite Shuttle, taking you from Mindil Beach and Myilly Terrace overflow parking to Kite Festival! Both of these options are free for Kite Festival attendees.

No two days will be the same at this year’s Kite’s Festival, so keep an eye on the Activate Darwin Facebook page to keep updated with program announcements.
