Guided Hiking Trail Experience

Embark on an unforgettable journey along the stunning coastlines of East Arnhem Land with a Yolŋu Traditional Owner as your guide.

The Dhimurru Coastal Trail offers a truly immersive cultural and nature experience - where every step reveals ancient stories, pristine landscapes, and the deep connection between the Yolŋu people and their Country.

This small-group hike follows the Dhimurru Coastal Walking Trail between Garanhan (Macassan Beach) and Bariŋura (Little Bondi) — with routes curated based on tides, seasons, and Yolŋu cultural heritage. As you traverse white sand dunes, paperbark trees and monsoon vine, rocky headlands, and elevated escarpments, Nathan shares deep Yolŋu connections to Country —stories of Yolŋu land and sea, winds, plants, and wildlife of East Arnhem Land.

This is not just a guided hike. It's a way of learning—through language, observation and conversation. You'll leave with an understanding of Yolŋu history, cultural landscape, seasons and how Yolŋu have used the flora and fauna for tens of thousands of years.

Walks are run in one direction with pre-arranged drop-off or pick-up, allowing guests to walk mindfully and at a gentle pace.

Traditional Spear Making & Cultural Experience

Participate in a unique hands-on cultural experience on the stunning coastal sands of Galaru (East Woody Beach) in East Arnhem Land.

Set entirely at Galaru — a well-known destination and coastal area recognised for its white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and breathtaking sunsets — you'll spend the afternoon learning to make a traditional Yolŋu hunting spear incorporating cultural knowledge passed down through generations.

Working side by side with Yolŋu expert guides, guests will craft spears from local materials (pre-harvested or sourced onsite) and use fire to carefully straighten the spear—a vital and meditative process centred on Yolŋu knowledge, patience, and traditional way of life.

As the sun sets over the coastline, unwind with refreshments and listen to stories that bring Yolŋu culture and connection to Country to life. This intimate and unforgettable experience offers visitors the chance to create, learn, and connect in one of East Arnhem Land's most breathtaking locations.
