In West Arnhem Land, the spiralling wind carries the stories of the ancestors.

Outstation Gallery presents Ivan Namirrkki, Obed Namirrkki, Kenan Namunjdja and Deborah Yulidjirri, four Kardbam artists whose bark paintings and hollow logs invoke Kunkurra, a supernatural force tied to Country, ceremony and living cultural inheritance.

A tradition nearly five decades in the making, the rarrk cross-hatching first mastered by Peter Marralwanga now lives in the hands of his children and grandchildren. Spanning two generations, these works carry forward a lineage of deep kinship, sacred place and artistic excellence rooted in the Kardbam estate of West Arnhem Land.

This is art that endures because it must.

A Group Exhibition in association with Maningrida Arts & Culture.
