Corporate Cultural Connections

Lirrwi Tourism specialises in bringing people together to share Yolngu culture, connecting Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people and building understanding between the two cultures.

Djawa (Timmy) Burarrwanga, founder of Lirrwi Tourism, says that an “immersion with the Yolngu people is like going to a bush university and experiencing something different”.

The Cultural Immersion Programs are a perfect way for corporate groups to step outside their regular work day and disconnecting from the office.
Participating in the unstructured and less regimented Yolngu daily life allows for the exploration of each individual’s strengths, weaknesses and biases. Be prepared to leave watches and smartphones behind and not follow the itinerary precisely. T`eam members will interact with each other like never before without these digital distractions.

On arrival at a Yolngu Homeland your team will become part of a small family community, usually with several generations. You can expect to receive a symbolic welcome to country, or smoking ceremony at the beginning of your stay. You’ll learn about Yolngu kinship, traditional law and language and participate in a range of activities from weaving to traditional spear fishing, gathering bush foods and medicine, dance (Bunggul), and even learn how the Yidaki (didgeridoo) is made and played.
