Open-air cinemas across the ages

Territorians have been going to the movies under the stars for generations, making the most of the climate to screen movies outdoors. During the war years rudimentary outdoor cinemas around Darwin, Katherine and Batchelor entertained the troops. Even The Star, the first purpose-built cinema in Darwin, featured open-air seating which is now a hip arcade featuring cafes and unique boutiques.
