Hi there, would you like to view this page on our USA site?

Tropical Summer Lightscapes

Our walk begins at the HMAS Darwin Anchor site, chosen for its connection to the Harbour and Darwin’s former Navy Headquarters in the post WWII years.

We follow the path to Darwin’s Waterfront Precinct, stopping to view the installations by local artists. Enjoy a bird’s eye view of the first of 4 Bruce Munro’s Tropical Light installations, ‘Time and Again,’ designed specifically for this exhibition.

Discover the stories that inspired Bruce Munro to design a celebration of Darwin’s wonderful tropical summer, captured in light, where water plays a pivotal role in nature’s regeneration.

We view ‘Sun Lily’; another sculpture composed uniquely for Darwin and one of 3 installations that the Walk Darwin team volunteered on to bring the Tropical Light exhibition to life. Your guide will share a ‘behind-the-scenes’ perspective on the intricacies of each art piece and the logistical feat to bring this exhibition from the UK to Darwin.

An evening at the Waterfront isn’t complete without a refreshing stop to prepare for even more mesmerising adventures. Our theme of replenishment is enjoyed with a delightful tropical mocktail reflecting the cool waters of Darwin Harbour and a tasting of seasonal and local delights.
