This workshop, presented by Miriam Pickard aka Primordial Mermaid, will be a mash-up of voice work and clown exercises.
All skill levels welcome.
Miriam graduated Charles Sturt University with a BA in Theatre/Media and completed theatre training in France with Master Clown teacher Philippe Gaulier. She is developing a unique storytelling format blending mythology, character based comedy and clown. She is committed to creating work that is accessible, entertaining and evocative. Miriam’s creative practice focuses on devising and collaborating in site-specific, mythopoetic theatre and storytelling. This takes place between Canberra and Central Australia where she collaborates on European and Aboriginal cultural regeneration projects devising immersive and participatory mythic story events. Miriam’s experience as a facilitator with intergenerational Warlpiri Women’s dance in Central Australia since 2010 inspired in her a great respect for the healing power of story and its direct relationship to cultural health and wellbeing.
Desert Festival takes place on the land of the Central Arrernte people. We wish to pay our respects to the traditional owners of this Country and to their ancestors.
