A female flute player performing

Destiny & Desire

A dramatic encounter with love, death, desire, and destiny.

Don’t miss the NT premiere of two incredible works by celebrated Australian composers Brett Dean and Rebecca Erin Smith.

Dean’s mysterious and dramatic Siduri Dances features DSO’s own Principal Flute Tania Watts as soloist, in a work of incredible virtuosity. Smith’s Foreigner and Foreigner is an expansive work exploring how it feels to be suspended between two places of belonging.

Beginning the evening is the stunning Prelude and Liebestod to Tristan and Isolde, a dramatic glimpse into the tale of the doomed lovers.

Copland’s triumphant and beautiful Appalachian Spring completes this beautiful program with a message of hope and prosperity.
