The Alice Springs World Chamber Orchestra

Fresh from their appearances at the 2019 Darwin Festival, the Alice Springs World Chamber Orchestra is excited to present parts of its new program at Desert Song Festival 2019.

The core Quintet of the 10 player strong WCO, presents their hallmark cross-over of styles and genres from Händel, Mozart, Schubert to Vaughan Williams and Piazolla and Australian composers Elena Kats-Chernin and Peter Sculthorpe to Michael Nyman, Arvo Pärt, Radiohead and Coldplay.

Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the early beginnings of this emerging cross-over chamber music initiative becoming Alice Springs' first Orchestra.

Take “the essential Australian journey” this September to Alice Springs where, over 10 glorious days, the DSF19 honours the 'UN International Year of Indigenous Language'.

Singers, musicians and audiences from this vibrant, multi-cultural community, unite to celebrate Central Australia's unique story of human occupation, resilience and culture.

Using staged, iconic heritage venues and the majestic, ancient landscapes of Central Australia as a backdrop, the Festival gives visitors an unforgettable experience revealing extraordinary musical talents.

The program provides a smorgasbord of free community events and ticketed performances. Book online or in person at the Alice Springs Visitor Information Centre on the corner of Todd Street Mall & Parsons Street.
