Mutitjulu Pride with Rene Kulitja, Charmaine Kulitja and Christine Brumby

Parrtjima | Talks | Mutitjulu Pride with Rene Kulitja, Charmaine Kulitja and Christine Brumby

Hear from Rene Kulitja, Charmaine Kulitja and Christine Brumby as a part of the talks program at Parrtjima 2023.

This year’s Parrtjima features the spiritual story of Uluru through Rene Kulitja’s artwork. She works from her home on Aṉangu Lands in the community of Mutitjulu, where backyards are shadowed by the majestic rock that embodies lore and culture. It’s a place that has seen much change.

In the past, there has been the stereotyping of a community in crisis and the wounds run deep. Today, through the advocacy of educators, artists, and cultural custodians, the Traditional Owners are witnessing a renewed focus and energy. The handback created employment and a new self-determined cultural tourism vision that saw the recent closure of climbing Uluru.

This new pride is rising from the heart of the nation, driven by the community, and provides a magical spirit for the next generation. Come and meet Rene along with her daughters Charmaine and Christine, who are both artists.

Entry to talks will be on a first-come, first-served basis so make sure you arrive early.
