Alchera - Jugulba

A preview of Anne Boyd’s new Opera on the life of Miss Olive Pink (Artist, Activist and founder of Alice Springs’ Olive Pink Botanic Garden) presented by The Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir and the Arafura Collective, a Symphonic ensemble comprising core members drawn from the Darwin Symphony orchestra.

Take “the essential Australian journey” this September to Alice Springs where, over 10 glorious days, the DSF19 will honour the 'UN International Year of Indigenous Language'. Singers, musicians and audiences from this vibrant, multi-cultural community, will unite to celebrate Central Australia's unique story of human occupation, resilience and culture.

Using staged, iconic heritage venues across town and the majestic, ancient landscapes of Central Australia as a backdrop, the Festival gives visitors an unforgettable experience revealing extraordinary musical talents.

The diverse program provides a smorgasbord of free community events and quality ticketed performances. Bookings are essential and can be made online or in person at the Alice Springs Visitor Information Centre, on the corner of Todd Street Mall & Parsons Street.

Come to 'Alchera - Jugulba' and enjoy a 'teaser' of the ‘Headline’ act for the 2020 Desert Song Festival.
