Take the opportunity to visit Bathurst Island to buy Tiwi art and craft at community prices and catch the displays in the grand final.
The Tiwi Islands Football Grand Final and annual Art Sale is one of the most exciting dates on the Tiwi event calendar where art, culture and football come together for one big day every year.
The Tiwi people are famous for their art, which hangs in galleries around the world. The art sale provides a rare opportunity for people to visit Bathurst Island and purchase a special piece of Tiwi art and crafts at community prices.
Stop in at one of the sale venues including Tiwi Design Art Centre, Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School for Jilamara Arts and Crafts and Munupi Arts and Crafts from Melville Island and watch artists work while learning the story behind their distinctive pieces.
The sale starts at 9am and concludes around 1pm when the Football Grand Final kicks off, one of the Territory’s most early anticipated sporting events. The Tiwi Islands’ people have serious footy fever with Australian Rules Football like a form of religion to many locals.
Join SeaLink for a great day on the Tiwis, follow the art trail, seating and lunch in the SeaLink pavilion, return ferry transfer and a once in a lifetime game of footy.
