Originally designated a public holiday for hardworking railway workers, today Railway Heritage Picnic Day is a celebration of the heritage of the Adelaide River township south of Darwin.
Join the fun of games including tug-o-war, sack and three-legged races, or egg and spoon races.
Walk around and explore the lily-studded reservoir, or discover the historical exhibits in the Sidney Williams Exhibition Hall. Enjoy traditional railway food and drinks served in the refreshment rooms at the Adelaide River Railway Heritage Precinct.
